Don’t worry if you’re not ‘tech savvy’ or are daunted by the thought of having to maintain your site. Content blocks can easily be updated yourself, thanks to Squarespace’s built in features. All projects end with a handover guide, and I am of course available to offer help and advice in the future development of your site.

What platform will my site be built on?I currently use Squarespace as my go to platform for website design. It’s fully contained, meaning there’s never any need to update software or plugins. It’s also really easy to manage, as it’s designed with the user in mind. With plenty of room to grow, Squarespace websites develop as your business does. What’s included when we work together on a website?
For a starter website design, we would usually begin with 5-6 pages of your choice, for example:

The booking & design process for website design

Booking
Once we’ve decided to work together, a booking contract and invoice will be sent to you via email. We’ll agree a start date and once your deposit invoice has been paid, a project timeline will be created. I always ask clients to be available for feedback during the process, so the timeline means the project moves along nicely!

Strategy & discovery
The next stage is all about getting to know you and your business and what your website goals are. I’ll send over some discovery questionnaires and we’ll get to know your ‘what’ and ‘why’ and those all important ideal clients and customers. We’ll think about the pages that you’ll need to really showcase everything you have to offer and any special features you need. This is also a good time to think about setting up your Squarespace account and buying any domain names you may need. I’ll also ask for your website copy and any imagery that you wish to include.

Initial concept
After the strategy stage has been completed,
I’ll get to work on an initial concept for your new website design. I’ll send across your first working draft within Squarespace. We’ll then discuss any changes required.

Refining stage to final site
Here we’ll work through any changes and refine your website so it’s ready in time for your launch date.

Final files and launch
During the final stage, I’ll connect your domain name, transfer ownership of the site over to you and add some basic information to start off your SEO. Your final project invoice will be issued, alongside your handover guide. Once the project has ended, I always check in regularly to see if there’s anything else I can help with as your business grows.

TOTAL COST
From £1200 + font licenses (if applicable) + Squarespace costs
I will send across a final quote once your brief and page structure has been decided. Payment is split into two payments - a deposit payment of 50% is taken before the start of your project and the remaining 50% will be invoiced along with your final files and handover guide being delivered. This splits the total cost of the project into two payments.

As well as your initial design and development costs, as with all website platforms, there is also a hosting cost to consider. Squarespace offers simple plans and simple pricing, which means you only pay for what you really need. All plans come with award-winning 24/7 customer support. Change or cancel your plan at any time. Plans are also available on a monthly or annual basis. Prices start at £17+VAT per month. Further information can be found here or ask me on booking. Other costs to think about include domain name charges, professional photography (if applicable) and any integrated booking or payment systems required.

Absolutely! Squarespace is designed with the do-it-yourself user in mind, making it easy for you to maintain, update, and monitor your website on your own once the final design is complete. I’m also always on hand to assist with any design changes or to help develop your website, as your business grows.

Facebook is important and can drive traffic and sales, but it’s not a substitute for a website. You don’t own your Facebook page and you don’t have any say in the way Facebook chooses to support businesses. Having a well designed, consistently branded website as part of your brand story will create trust and a solid foundation for your business to grow on.

During the project the majority of our communication will take place through email and digital forms, such as recorded screen shares. I’m happy to schedule calls to talk through strategy or any process questions but having everything either written down or recorded means generally nothing gets missed and important items can be re- read or replayed as needed. It also saves time for busy business owners.

Once the project is over, you will receive a handover guide with all the relevant information in, to help you manage and add content to your website, as and when you need. I’m of course on hand should you wish to make any changes to your site as your business grows. Please note that any changes or amendments to your website, outside of the scope of the initial project will be chargeable.

Every Squarespace website is equipped with all the elements needed for a strong SEO strategy. Basic page descriptions will be added to each of your pages as a starting point but I’m currently unable to offer full SEO support in house, as it should form part of a longer term marketing strategy for your business. I therefore recommend using a digital marketing agency or expert to help with this. On booking, I provide guides with more information on the SEO of your website.
